Free Admission to South Lakes Wild Animal Park this weekend --- Help for Haiti

South Lakes Wild Animal Park overwhelmed by the reports coming from Haiti of the damage, destruction and loss of life are offering free admission this Saturday and Sunday for anyone who will donate £2 at the entrance to the Emergency Earthquake Appeal.

Nobody can fail to be moved by the pictures on the news at the weekend of hundreds of people desperate for food, water, medical supplies, emergency shelter; and with the situation, in the poorest country in the western hemisphere, likely to only get worse with potentially more than 2 million needing desperate help, staffs were compelled to do something.

Park owner David Gill agreed so any adult, child, oap who donates £2 at the entrance to the disaster will get free admission to the park on Saturday 23rd and Sunday 24th January.

NEW STARS TO BE REVEALED: also on show for the very first time since arriving in the park just before Christmas are our latest arrivals Southern Tamandua. Tamandua or “Anteaters” are from South America and although still in quarantine within the park will be moved to the primate house ready for the weekend where visitors will get the very first glimpse of these amazing and very special arrivals.

Keepers have also been busy putting a plan of events together for the weekend and here’s what’s in store:

11.30 Hand feed giraffes

What else to see – winter babies:

The park has some recent additions for visitors to meet including a Siamang baby and Squirrel monkey babies down in the primate house, look out for the Capuchin baby in the South American Bear enclosure, and perhaps the first baby to try and spot as you come through the gates (maybe hanging off mum) will be the Mandrill baby.

ICE RINK OPEN: get wrapped up and enjoy a spin on the ice the rink will be open every day (additional charge)
