Lake District Peninsulas Partnership

The end of March brings the end of an era when the Lake District Peninsulas Tourism Partnership ceases to exist in its current form. We have worked with Angela for a number of years and wish her all the best in her new role with Cumbria County Council.

Though a new group is forming lead by South Lakes Wild Animal park they will hopefully keep the partnership alive in a different format.

Soon you will start seeing the new Southern Lakeland Top Attractions leaflet that replaces the one produced in previous years, it is in a new format and i think it will work well, it will be on our website www.daysoutinfo.co.uk in the next few days and will be in sites across Northern England in time for Easter.

Quad Biking & FlyBE

Just spent the morning quad biking on the Isle of Man at Ballacraine, it was a great morning and fantastic value for money. After flying in from Liverpool with FlyBe last night its nice to be back on the Island for a weekend it was a great price only £55.00 return. The Flight from Liverpool was all on time and it was good to see plenty of our customers Tourist Information on Display at Speke including the National Trust and South Lakes Wild Animal Park.

DFDS Seaways & Bags of Info for Kids

I am really pleased that this year in our summer Bags of Info for Kids packs we are working with DFDS Seaways to give away a number of short breaks. We will be sending out a record 119,000 packs across the North. Since we launched the "Bags" we have managed to offer some great trips including Center Parcs, Pontins, Flamingoland, Ribbey Hall Village and The Pennington Hotel in West Cumbria. So adding DFDS to the list is fantastic.

2009 so far

So far in 2009 we have had a great year we are hoping the "stay cation" takes off as this will mean lots of visitors staying in the UK. We are developing our website www.daysoutinfo.co.uk and today we have hit the 150th leaflet listed.

After the Cumbria Tourism meeting yesterday it would seem that most Self Catering/Camp/Caravan sites are going great gones in 2009, but the hotels not doing quite so well

lets hope for a good summer....
